Firefly colonies, endangered all over the world, still congregate in open clearings, trees, and, in this situation, along a river. I took a boat out for an evening and focused my camera against the surface of the river close to the shoreline. Once the fireflies began their evening travels, I opened the shudder of the camera. This long exposure was made while the moon was rising. Passing clouds and light penetrates the river depths while fireflies traveled down the river, momentarily surrounding me, and moving on.
