Forest Lolo, Bamboo Forest Hut
Lolo, or “grandfather,” is what local people called this man who lived a two hour walk from the nearest road. He and his wife maintain a fruit plantation. Every few days relatives—usually young family members -- an army of seven, eight, nine, and ten year olds carrying fish and rice—trek into the forest and trade fruit with this couple. His wife is pictured in an accompanying image. In the upper right hand corner of the image you can view a portion of her hand.
