Breakfast Commute, Rhinoceros Hornbill
Breakfast Commute, Rhinoceros Hornbill
Waiting in a borrowed boat, I thought I was waiting for the light, I thought I was waiting for something that might forage along the bank, maybe a mokey, maybe the early morning fisherman who had warned me of climate change. I let the boat drift with the current and slowed my breath. I put down the hardwood paddle and heard the familiar wingbeats of a hornbill. Holding my breath in the silence and in the fog, I tripped the shudder of my camera while we both glided. Listening to hornbill legends, eating fresh river fish and being ready for the morning light is to be home. To be at home is to also be open to learning, sharing, and living with one another. To many forest communities, that's what hornbills are about. Hornbill carries a small lizard back to its nesthole along the Kinabatangan River. Sizes: 8x10, 11x14, 12x18, 17x24, 20x30, 30x40.
