Man, Tree, Leaves

This man and his wife (on the forest floor below) harvest gambir leaves in a tree that has been passed down through several generations. This is a part of a weekly ritual. Gambir leaves have several medicinal properties. They are also smoked and also used to keep away mosquitos. Climbing down from the tree, we are careful not to damage any branches. Taking care of this tree, and others, is part of living in the forest, 'close to trees,' I'm told. Sizes: 8x10, 11x14, 12x18
