Freedom Swim, Hawksbill Sea Turtle
Pictured is a sea turtle originally captured by fisherfolk with intentions to sell the turtle to the growing pet trade in the Philippines. Youth I often snorkeled and co-led conservation projects with as a Peace Corps Volunteer convinced families to release the turtle. So this is the release, just before the turtle dives into the sea grass. Not pictured: band on rear hawskbill fin; newspaper clipping that declares my students and the families as heros.
Some proceeds from this image donated to EPI (www.epi.org) in their work with conservation projects and students. Sizes: 8x10, 11x14, 12x18
