Mountain Top Lookout
Mountain Top Lookout
Images from firelookouts always cause me to pause. Every time I make the last steps to a mountain peak I remember my first assent of a firelookout. I remember my father dangling me above treelines and mountain scree on top of Mt. Kearsage in New Hampshire. So it's no wonder that I connect with the mountains inside Smokey Mountain National Park.  They form part of the chain of the Appalachains. And it's no wonder that we keep climbing mountains searching for hope, forest beauty, and connections to our past. This was the last photograph I made in the United States before my Borneo project.
