Coconut Under the Mango Tree
Coconut Under the Mango Tree
Holding a coconut under a community mango tree, this girl, in one of her best play dresses, typifies a lazy Sunday. Or, perhaps one of my favorite ways to spend a Sunday: munching fruits, hunting for them, and laughing. This particular tree is a community mango tree. One of the branches hangs especially low over the trail. When making my way across the community, and especially at night, I find myself banging my head on one of the branches. Inevitably, this is a regular occurrence. It became so common that sometimes people I am with (either kids or research assistants) would warn me about the looming branch as we were walking up the path. Like any good forest, individual trees are full of surprises. And of course wild fruits.
