Embracing a Tree

Kids from one forest community demonstrate their relationship with important tree species one tree at a time. In this image, community members of this rice plot have used cut forest branches and small trees to protect an important durian tree that will one day provide fruit. This strategy protects young trees from both fire and predation. It is used for both fruit and timber trees.
